the musical places of sounddream have been found by the following compositional explorers/performers - frank mitman myra murphy dave johnsen
Sounddream creates incredibly eclectic and unique music with a poetic marriage of jazz, classical, rock, new age and fusion styles. The music is fluid and spontaneous; pulsating rhythms support lyrical melodies interwoven with fresh improvisation. Sounddream guides the listener along an unbeaten, undulating musical path where twists and turns and constant sonic surprises await.
Myra Murphy earned her music degree from the Juilliard School of Music, and has performed since the age of 11. Frank Mitman studies composition at Moravian College, and has played classical and electric guitar since the age of 9. Dave Johnsen has long been composing and performing on the electric bass, both fretted and fretless, for sounddream and his rock band Exit 3. Sounddream is a direct descendent of the 1970's fusion group Peaceful Wind. Both Murphy and Mitman wrote for and toured with this band playing college concerts and extended jazz club engagements. Since appearing at Bethlehem's Musicfest Festival, sounddream has added new original compositions and poetry with instrumental accompaniment. The poetry included translates feelings emanating from the music. It is a vocal sounddrea. The music on the CD is a celebration of nature. Jacobsburg Park and surrounding wild lands are a constant inspiration. The result is a fresh and wonderful musical stew, combining elements of electric contemporary jazz with classical, new age and traditional jazz forms. The CD has been played in its entirety on WXLV 90.3 FM and 88.1 WDIY FM.
Mitman, Murphy and Johnsen are working on their second CD.
